I have listed a new property at 27099 Zora RD in RM Springfield.
PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP is evident in this Unique 1800 +/- sf 3 Bedroom
Custom Built Hand-Hewn Log Home (1994) on a Mature Treed 6 Acre Lot in a much sought after location only 1/2
mile East of Birds Hill Park.
In 1993 the owner travelled to Lake Superior to hand pick each tree
that was to become their log home. He had them felled and transported
to a saw mill in Kakabeka Falls, ON where they were rough sawn flat on
2 sides and from there numbered according to size and length etc. They
were then shipped to the present yardsite. Drawknives were then used to
remove the remaining bark. Each log was hand-hewn with a broad axe and
laid one by one. Once up, the logs were sprayed with high quality Lifeline Log Stain
in a Weathered Grey colour. The roof was then completed with ridge and
truss beams being raised to the second floor. Cedar shingles were then installed on the house roof.
A Granite fieldstone (collected from Seddon's Corner)
fireplace with Jotul insert (from Norway) was then
erected in the centre of the home and exposed on all sides to
make the most of the heat created within and around the
fireplace. The stone chimney also passes up through the Master Bedroom
area. The custom 1" thick solid pine plank tongue and groove
flooring (glued, screwed and plugged), varying in widths from 5" to 14"
was imported from Collingwood, ON, along with doors, 4-1/2" pine
window
trim, and 7-1/4" pine baseboards. The ceiling boasts open beam White
Pine logs as well as Eastern White Pine hand-crafted ridge and truss
beams exposed on the second floor. The inside log walls are
whitewashed.
The kitchen gives a rustic feel with freestanding cabinetry and authentic looking but modern "Elmira"
Convection oven, 6 cast elements, with side warmer and built in fan with
charcoal filter. The second floor consists of two bedrooms, a full bath
and Master bedroom with handcrafted solid open beams. There is also a
fully insulated 15x25 room with vaulted ceiling and roughed in window box above the attached
garage allowing for potential expansion as a Bonus Room, Bedroom, etc.
Modern features include "Pella" windows, "Lions" Boiler System offering
Radiant Floor Heat in the house, Beam Central Vac, and 24x26 insulated
Attached Double Garage.
The Timber-frame barn is rough-sawn, board and batten pine, and
offers several box stalls, a water hydrant, hay loft, lean-to
and Heated Workshop, 50 Amp service, and Jotul wood stove (from
Norway).

Fibreglass Septic Tank - new 1/2 hp pump installed Oct. 2011 with 150 yds of stone
